28 Years Later: The Bone Temple continues the post-apocalyptic horror saga, directed by Nia DaCosta and scripted by Alex Garland, as the second installment in the reimagined 28 Days Later trilogy.
The story picks up in a ravaged England, where Spike (Alfie Williams) is now entangled with the eerie cult led by Sir Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell), whose followers venerate a disturbing shrine made of human bones— the Bone Temple. Meanwhile, Dr. Ian Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) confronts a terrifying new reality, forming an uneasy alliance with Samson, a physically dominant Alpha-infected. As the line between human brutality and the infected blurs, the true horror lies not in the undead, but in the surviving psychopaths.
The ensemble cast includes Erin Kellyman, Emma Laird, Maura Bird, and Chi Lewis-Parry, with Cillian Murphy expected to return in a cameo, continuing his role from the original film to cement narrative continuity. Adding emotional and psychological layers, this film is a haunting exploration of fanaticism, survival, and the ruin of humanity.
Shot back-to-back with its predecessor, the film is slated for theatrical release on 16 January 2026, promising a visually intense and thematically bold continuation of the franchise.
