BOOTS is an upcoming eight-episode comedic drama set to premiere on Netflix on October 9, 2025. Based on Greg Cope White’s memoir The Pink Marine, the series offers a powerful, irreverent take on the coming-of-age story through the lens of 1990s U.S. Marine Corps boot camp.
The story centers on Cameron Cope (played by Miles Heizer), a directionless and closeted young man who impulsively enlists alongside his straight best friend, Ray McAffey (Liam Oh), in search of identity and purpose in a world that was sharply unwelcoming to LGBTQ+ individuals. The boot camp becomes both a battleground and a crucible—forcing Cameron and his fellow recruits to confront physical challenges, societal norms, and their own truths as they forge unexpected bonds.
Adding emotional depth is Vera Farmiga as Cameron’s narcissistic and unstable mother, Barbara, whose own life unravels with his departure. Among the recruits is Sergeant Sullivan (Max Parker), an elite and emotionally scarred Recon Marine who recognizes himself in Cameron and becomes an unlikely mentor.
Created by Andy Parker and co-run by Jennifer Cecil, with legendary producer Norman Lear as executive producer, BOOTS blends sharp wit, heartfelt drama, and historical weight into a story about resilience, friendship, and self-discovery in the face of rigid systems.
