Dust Bunny marks the feature-film directorial debut of Bryan Fuller, known for his distinctive visual style and genre-blending storytelling. This horror-thriller combines dark fantasy, humor, and emotional weight to tell a haunting, imaginative tale.
The story follows Aurora, a ten-year-old girl convinced there’s a monster under her bed that she believes devoured her family. Desperate for help, she turns to her reclusive neighbor—a hitman for hire, portrayed by Mads Mikkelsen—and hires him to confront the creature. As Aurora and the hitman team up, they uncover a dangerous plot involving assassins, deceit, and supernatural horrors. Along the way, Aurora’s foster parents’ disappearance, the neighbor’s hidden guilt, and layers of mystical terror force both of them to face more than just the monster under the bed.
The cast includes Sigourney Weaver, David Dastmalchian, Sheila Atim, and Sophie Sloan as Aurora. The film premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival and is set for theatrical release in the U.S. in early December 2025. With its stylized visuals, emotional heart, and unpredictable tone, Dust Bunny promises to be a fresh and eerie, yet surprisingly moving, entry in the family-horror hybrid genre.
