Whitetail is an upcoming English-language drama film directed and written by Nanouk Leopold. The story takes place in a quiet small town in southern Ireland, where Jen, now in her forties and working as a conservation ranger, is forced to confront a haunting tragedy from her past.
As a teenager, Jen went hunting in the forest with her boyfriend, Oscar. In a devastating accident, they mistook her younger sister for a deer and shot her. The event shattered both of their lives—Oscar left town to escape the guilt, while Jen remained, burdened by grief and regret.
Decades later, Oscar suddenly returns, bringing with him the painful memories Jen has tried to suppress. At the same time, a poacher killing deer in the area stirs up the trauma of the forest incident, forcing Jen to face her past head-on.
With striking cinematography and an emotional narrative, Whitetail explores themes of loss, guilt, forgiveness, and redemption, showing how past mistakes continue to shape the present. It is a story about confronting inner demons and finding peace in the face of unbearable grief.
