Synopsis

The royal true-crime drama The Lady has just finished its broadcast run in the UK and is preparing for its international debut. Produced by Left Bank Pictures (the team behind The Crown), the four-part limited series is one of the most talked-about dramas of early 2026.

Based on a shocking true story, the series follows the meteoric rise and devastating fall of Jane Andrews (Mia McKenna-Bruce). In the late 1980s, Jane, a working-class woman from Grimsby, answers an anonymous advertisement in The Lady magazine and lands the job of a lifetime: personal dresser to Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York (Natalie Dormer).

For nine years, Jane lives a “fairytale” life at the heart of the British Royal Family, navigating the highest social circles. However, the story takes a dark turn after she is made redundant. Struggling to maintain her social standing and battling mental health issues, her life spirals out of control, culminating in the high-profile murder of her boyfriend, businessman Thomas Cressman (Ed Speleers), and her subsequent flight from justice.
