Synopsis

Mother Mary is a high-glamour, psychological “pop opera” that follows the life of a fictional global superstar known to the world simply as Mother Mary. After a period of public scrutiny and professional burnout, the iconic singer is preparing for a massive, career-defining comeback performance. However, the pressure of the spotlight begins to take a toll on her mental state, blurring the lines between her public persona and her true self.

The heart of the story focuses on the tense reunion between Mother Mary and Sam Anselm, her estranged former best friend and costume designer. Sam was once the architect of Mary’s visual identity, but deep personal wounds caused a rift that lasted for years. As Sam returns to help craft the look for the comeback show, long-buried secrets and resentments from their shared past begin to surface, threatening to derail the entire production.

As the two women work together, the film explores the dark side of fame and the heavy cost of creative ambition.
