Synopsis

Bhool Chuk Maaf (2025) is a Hindi fantasy romantic comedy that brings a unique science-fiction twist to a traditional small-town setting. Directed by Karan Sharma and produced by Maddock Films (the makers of Stree), the film blends humor with an intriguing time-loop narrative.

The story is set in the vibrant city of Varanasi and revolves around Ranjan, a hopeless romantic who is deeply in love with a feisty girl named Titli. To marry her, Ranjan has to fulfill one major condition set by Titli’s father: he must secure a stable government job within two months. After much struggle and some “jugaad” (shortcuts), Ranjan finally manages to land the job, and the wedding festivities begin.

However, things take a bizarre turn on the day of his Haldi ceremony. After a day of celebrations, Ranjan goes to sleep, only to wake up and find that it is the same morning all over again. He is trapped in a time loop, forced to relive the chaotic wedding preparations repeatedly while everyone else around him is completely unaware that time has reset.

As the loop continues, Ranjan’s initial frustration turns into a journey of self-discovery. He begins to realize that his “shortcuts” to get the job may have hurt someone else’s life. He discovers that he accidentally took the position of a much more deserving candidate, Hamid, who needed the job to help his drought-stricken village.

In the end, Ranjan must decide between his personal happiness with Titli and doing the right thing. The film follows his humorous and emotional attempts to break the cycle by making amends for his past mistakes. It is a heartwarming story that teaches that true love and success cannot be built on the foundation of someone else’s misfortune.
