Synopsis

Regai (2025) is a Tamil & Hindi language crime thriller web series that premiered on ZEE5. Based on the novel by the legendary crime writer Rajesh Kumar, the series is a gritty investigative drama set in the town of Tirunelveli.

The story begins with a disturbing discovery: a severed human hand is found hidden inside an ice cream vending cart. Sub-Inspector Vetri, a dedicated but emotionally heavy cop, is assigned to the case. Things become personal for Vetri when he realizes that one of the victims is a young student he had been mentoring. As he digs deeper, he uncovers a terrifying pattern—the fingerprints from the severed hand match four different people who have already been declared dead in “accidental” circumstances.

As Vetri and his colleague, Constable Sandhiya, follow the trail, they realize they aren’t just looking for a serial killer. They uncover a massive medical conspiracy involving a powerful pharmaceutical agency. This agency has been conducting illegal drug trials on innocent people and staging their deaths as accidents to cover their tracks. The investigation turns into a race against time as the “medical mafia” begins to target Vetri and his team to keep their secrets buried.

The series explores the dark side of the healthcare industry and the bravery of low-level police officers fighting against a giant, corrupt system. It is a “slow-burn” thriller where every clue reveals a new layer of betrayal. By the end, Vetri must risk everything to expose the truth and ensure that the victims finally get justice, proving that even a small-town cop can take down a powerful empire.
