Synopsis

The third season of the hit drama leaps five years into the future, moving beyond the hallways of East Highland and into the complex, messy realities of adulthood. The story picks up with Rue Bennett living in Mexico, where she is struggling to stay sober while navigating a dangerous debt to the drug lord Laurie. Rue’s journey this season shifts from teenage rebellion to a deeper search for faith and redemption as she tries to find a path out of the destructive cycles that have defined her life.

Meanwhile, the former high school rivals Cassie Howard and Nate Jacobs have settled into a surprisingly domestic life in the suburbs. While they are engaged to be married, their relationship is far from perfect. The rest of the group has scattered to pursue their own ambitions. Jules Vaughn is navigating the high-pressure world of art school, dealing with the anxiety of launching a professional career as a painter while trying to avoid the responsibilities of being an adult. Maddy Perez has moved to Hollywood, working at a high-end talent agency and juggling various side hustles to make her mark in the city.

Lexi Howard has found success in the creative world, serving as an assistant to a powerful showrunner. This professional environment brings her into contact with a new cast of characters and forces her to confront whether she is ready to step out of the shadows and become the lead in her own story. As their paths inevitably cross again, the group must reconcile who they were in high school with the people they are becoming.
