Synopsis

Set against the gritty and rain-soaked backdrop of Mumbai, the series follows DCP Rita Ferreira, the newly appointed head of the Mumbai Crime Branch. Rita is a sharp, disciplined officer driven by an intense sense of justice, but she is secretly anchored by profound personal guilt and psychological trauma from her past. Her life becomes a high-stakes nightmare when she is tasked with hunting a cold-blooded, sadistic serial killer who has begun terrorizing the city.

The investigation plunges Rita into a world of disturbing violence where the killer’s “signature” is particularly gruesome—victims are found with their mouths stuffed with raw meat, mobile phones, or other household objects. Based on Vish Dhamija’s bestselling novel Bhendi Bazaar, the show moves beyond a standard “whodunnit” to explore the “why” behind such extreme acts of depravity. As Rita follows the trail of blood through Mumbai’s narrow alleys, she realizes that the case is mirroring the very demons she has been trying to outrun.

The series is a dark, psychological exploration of morality and the internal “quagmire” (Daldal) that traps those who live on the edge of crime and justice. Rita must fight not only a clever predator but also the systemic biases within the police force and her own unraveling mental state. In a race against time, she has to solve the mystery before her personal and professional worlds collide in a catastrophic final confrontation.
