Synopsis

The story begins on the picturesque Hankoniemi Peninsula during the Midsummer Eve celebrations, a time of peace and joy for the local Finnish community. However, the festivities turn into a waking nightmare when an unidentified and heavily armed military force launches a surprise invasion. Within hours, the entire town is seized, and over 10,000 civilians, including several foreign nationals, are taken hostage.

As the ground falls into chaos, the series follows Annika Berg, a determined conscript and trainee squad leader, who must lead her inexperienced team through enemy-occupied territory. Joining the resistance is Captain Rami, a seasoned veteran struggling with PTSD, who must push through his personal trauma to protect his family and his country. Together, they represent the front-line struggle against an enemy whose motives remain shrouded in mystery.

While the soldiers fight on the ground, a different kind of war erupts in the halls of power. The newly elected President, Linnea Saaristo, finds herself at odds with her Prime Minister as they disagree on how to handle the crisis. With international allies and the U.S. President pressuring Finland to take decisive action, Saaristo must navigate a treacherous political landscape to prevent the local invasion from escalating into a global proxy war.

The narrative masterfully blends gritty military realism with high-stakes political intrigue. It explores themes of national security and the fragility of modern peace, showing how quickly a comfortable society can be pushed to the brink of collapse. As secrets are revealed and betrayals come to light, the characters are forced to make impossible choices to secure the safety of their people and the future of their nation.
