Synopsis

Scheduled to premiere on Netflix, Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 is the first animated expansion of the Stranger Things universe. Developed by showrunner Eric Robles (Fanboy & Chum Chum) and executive produced by the Duffer Brothers, the series captures the aesthetic of 1980s Saturday-morning cartoons while maintaining the show’s signature “bite.”

Set during the snowy winter of 1985—filling the gap between the events of Season 2 and Season 3—the series finds Hawkins in a rare state of peace. Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max have settled into a “normal” life of Dungeons & Dragons and snowball fights.

However, beneath the frozen ground, a new paranormal threat has awakened. Described by Robles as “Hawkins Lab science meets Upside Down matter,” the mystery involves a chain reaction of surviving creatures that did not disappear when the Gate was closed. Our heroes must race to uncover the origin of these new abominations—including a terrifying “pumpkin-headed” monstrosity—before the winter thaw brings an even greater horror to the surface.
