Synopsis

13Teen marks the directorial debut of Punjabi superstar Roshan Prince. Set and filmed entirely in Winnipeg, Canada, the movie is a gritty, realistic drama that explores the “unseen” struggles of the diaspora’s youth.

The story centers on a 13-year-old boy (played by Saurav Sharma) who feels increasingly invisible within his own home. Neglected by parents who are consumed by the high-pressure race for financial stability in a new country, the teenager finds himself drifting toward a dangerous social circle. The narrative follows his high school journey as he faces the pivotal, life-altering choice of whether to succumb to the lure of drugs and easy money or find the strength to reclaim his identity. It is a powerful commentary on the breakdown of communication within immigrant families and the vulnerability of teenagers searching for a sense of belonging.

Production Spotlight

Fame School Connection: Most of the young actors in the film are students from Roshan Prince’s own acting academy in Winnipeg, Fame School & Studio. Prince started the project during the 2021 lockdown as a way to provide a platform for aspiring talent and tell a story rooted in the local Canadian-Punjabi experience.
