Synopsis

Based on William Golding’s timeless 1954 novel, this four-part BBC adaptation reimagines the harrowing descent of a group of schoolboys into savagery after a plane crash leaves them stranded on a deserted Pacific island. Set in the early 1950s, the series remains faithful to the original period while delving deeper into the psychological and emotional shifts within the group. With no adults to guide them, the boys initially attempt to build a rational society, but their efforts are soon undermined by fear, power struggles, and the emergence of a primal “beast” that haunts their collective imagination.
