Synopsis
The second season of Big Mood picks up exactly one year after the emotional and chaotic Season 1 finale. Maggie and Eddie, whose decade-long friendship finally hit a breaking point, haven’t spoken a single word to each other in twelve months. Eddie has spent the year trying to find a sense of calm away from London, while Maggie has been left to manage her bipolar disorder and her career without her usual “partner in crime” by her side.
The silence is broken when Eddie suddenly returns to the city to attend a high-pressure wedding. However, she doesn’t come alone. She arrives with a new companion named Whitney an “infuriatingly positive” spiritual healer who represents the stable, healthy life Eddie is trying to build. For Maggie, the sight of this new best friend is a massive blow, and she immediately feels the need to prove that their original bond is still the most important thing in both of their lives.
Throughout the six episodes, the show continues to blend sharp, biting comedy with a raw and honest portrayal of mental illness. As the duo faces the reality of their diverging paths, they are forced to confront a difficult question: is their history enough to sustain a future, or has the “big mood” finally pushed them too far apart? It is a story about growing up, the messy nature of reconciliation, and the complicated love between best friends.
Determined to reclaim her spot as Eddie’s “person,” Maggie injects her signature brand of unpredictable and often dark energy back into Eddie’s world. This leads to a series of misadventures as they navigate the wedding festivities, old triggers, and the awkwardness of their reunion. Maggie’s attempts to outshine Whitney often backfire, highlighting the deep-seated patterns that drove the two friends apart in the first place.
