Synopsis

Coolie is the 2025 Indian action-thriller blockbuster directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, starring Superstar Rajinikanth. The movie follows the journey of a man fighting against a massive gold smuggling syndicate.

The plot revolves around Deva (Rajinikanth), a former union leader for dockyard workers who now lives a simple life. He is known for his discipline and protective nature. However, his life takes a violent turn when his close friend Rajasekar (Sathyaraj) is murdered. Deva soon realizes that this wasn’t a simple crime, but part of a much larger conspiracy.

Deva discovers that a high-tech invention by his friend is being misused by a gold and watch smuggling mafia. This syndicate is led by the dangerous Simon (Nagarjuna Akkineni) and his enforcer Dayal (Soubin Shahir). To hide their crimes, they use a “mobile cremator” to dispose of evidence, making them nearly impossible for the police to catch.

As Deva goes on a mission for revenge, his dark history is revealed. Years ago, he was a powerful figure at the shipping docks who fought for the rights of “coolies” (laborers). It turns out that Deva and the villain, Simon, have a long-standing blood feud that started decades earlier. This personal rivalry makes the battle even more intense.

The movie reaches a high-speed climax when Deva finds out a shocking family secret regarding his daughter, Preethi (Shruti Haasan). To save her and end the exploitation of the workers, Deva returns to his roots, using his legendary strength to dismantle Simon’s empire. The film concludes with a massive twist that hints at a larger cinematic universe.
