Synopsis

After making waves at the Cannes Film Festival back in 2023, Anurag Kashyap’s gritty neo-noir thriller Kennedy is finally making its digital debut in India on ZEE5.

The story centers on Uday Shetty (Rahul Bhat), an insomniac former police officer who is officially presumed dead but lives under the alias “Kennedy.” Haunted by a violent past and a broken family, he navigates a morally bankrupt Mumbai, leading a double life: a cab driver by day and a lethal, shadow-dwelling contract killer by night, working for the corrupt Police Commissioner Rasheed Khan (Mohit Takalkar).

As Kennedy’s fractured mind begins to crack under the weight of his own silence and rage, he is framed in a dangerous conspiracy involving explosives and extortion. His path crosses with Charlie (Sunny Leone), a mysterious and enigmatic woman who draws him into a complex web of deception. Over the course of five tense nights, Kennedy is forced into a violent chase for the truth. He isn’t just looking to survive; he is searching for a final, blood-soaked act of redemption in a city that refuses to let him escape his sins.

The film is signature Kashyap—atmospheric, dark, and uncompromising. Shot largely at night during the post-pandemic period, it uses the empty streets of Mumbai as a character itself. With a haunting score recorded by the Prague Philharmonic Choir, the narrative explores the “internalized psychopath” within a man who has killed so many people he has lost count, yet still clings to a desperate hope for salvation.
