Synopsis

Param Sundari is a 2025 Hindi-language romantic comedy that brings together Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor for the first time. Produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock Films banner, the film is a cross-cultural “North meets South” story set against the scenic backwaters of Kerala.

The story centers on Param (Sidharth Malhotra), a wealthy and somewhat spoiled venture capitalist from Delhi who spends much of his time investing his father’s money in questionable startups. To prove to his skeptical father that he has an eye for success, Param decides to bet everything on a high-tech AI matchmaking app called “Soulmates.” He claims the algorithm is foolproof, and his father gives him a high-stakes ultimatum: if the app works for Param personally, he will receive full seed funding for his business.

The app matches Param with Thekkepattu Sundari Damodharan Pillai (Janhvi Kapoor), a graceful and disciplined homestay owner in Kerala. Sundari, who sacrificed her own dreams of becoming a classical dancer to manage her ancestral home and care for her younger sister, is the polar opposite of the chaotic, “Delhi swag” obsessed Param. When Param arrives in her quiet town to win her over and prove the algorithm right, he immediately clashes with her traditional upbringing and her protective uncle, Bhargavan Nair.

As Param tries to integrate into the local culture—often with hilarious and cringeworthy results—he realizes that human emotions are far more complex than any digital code. From participating in traditional boat races to attempting Kalaripayattu to impress Sundari’s family, the film follows his journey of self-discovery. What started as a business challenge becomes a genuine quest for love, forcing Param to choose between his ego and his heart.

The narrative explores modern dating through the lens of technology vs. tradition. While the AI suggests they are perfect, the real-world friction between their two different worlds provides the film’s core conflict. Ultimately, the movie is a light-hearted celebration of how love can bridge geographical and cultural gaps, even when the data says otherwise.
