Synopsis

Rocky Randhawa is a flamboyant, loud, and larger-than-life Punjabi boy from a wealthy family that owns the famous “Dhanlakshmi Sweets” in Delhi. Rani Chatterjee, on the other hand, is a sophisticated, highly educated, and intellectual Bengali news anchor. The two come from worlds that couldn’t be more different—one is rooted in traditional patriarchal values and business, while the other thrives on liberal thought and culture.

Their paths cross when Rocky tries to help his grandfather, Kanwal, who suffers from memory loss, reunite with a woman from his past named Jamini. As it turns out, Jamini is Rani’s grandmother. While attempting to bring their grandparents together to rekindle an old flame, Rocky and Rani unexpectedly fall in love. However, they quickly realize that their families are polar opposites and will likely never agree to their union.

To bridge this massive cultural gap, they come up with a unique plan: they decide to “switch” houses for three months. Rocky moves in with Rani’s intellectual Bengali family, where he is mocked for his lack of general knowledge, while Rani moves into Rocky’s traditional Punjabi household, where she faces the strict and dominating matriarch, Dhanlakshmi. During this time, they both try to win over their potential in-laws while learning the true meaning of family and sacrifice.

The stay proves to be a journey of self-discovery for everyone. Rani encourages the women in Rocky’s house to find their own voices, while Rocky learns to appreciate art and respect perspectives he previously ignored. Despite many clashes, heartbreaks, and a dramatic confrontation during a Kathak performance, they eventually break down the walls of prejudice. The story concludes with a grand celebration, proving that love can indeed triumph over deep-rooted cultural differences.
