Synopsis
Roommates is a fresh, funny, and relatable college comedy that captures one of the most universally awkward experiences of young adulthood moving in with a complete stranger and hoping for the best.
The story follows Devon (Sadie Sandler), a hopeful and somewhat naive college freshman who is eager to start her new life away from home. In an attempt to secure a “cool” social circle, she asks the worldly, confident, and effortlessly stylish Celeste (Chloe East) to be her roommate.
What begins as a blossoming friendship and a shared excitement for their first year at university quickly takes a dark and humorous turn. As the semester progresses, the two find themselves trapped in a spiraling “war of passive aggression.” The film explores the bizarre, intense, and often claustrophobic intimacy of freshman year friendships, where the smallest slights—from borrowed clothes to differing sleep schedules—become major battlegrounds.
