Synopsis

The story centers on four estranged siblings—Nate, Casey, Rachel, and Abe—who are brought back to their childhood home following the sudden passing of their wealthy and eccentric mother, Mrs. DuBose. While they expect a straightforward reading of the will and a massive payout, they are instead met with a final challenge. Their mother has hidden the deed to her entire estate somewhere on the property, and the only way to claim the inheritance is to solve a series of elaborate riddles and physical tasks she left behind.

As the siblings embark on this high-stakes scavenger hunt, years of buried resentment and sibling rivalry quickly bubble to the surface. Each character brings their own baggage: Nate is struggling with his ego, Casey is desperate for financial security, and the others deal with their own misplaced priorities. What begins as a greedy race for cold hard cash turns into a forced journey of self-reflection as they realize their mother’s real goal wasn’t to give them money, but to fix their broken relationships.

The hunt takes them through various sentimental locations around the estate, forcing them to cooperate in ways they haven’t done since they were children. The obstacles are designed to highlight their individual flaws and the necessity of family unity. Along the way, they discover that their mother’s “greatest inheritance” isn’t the house or the bank account, but the faith and values she tried to instill in them throughout her life.

Ultimately, the film is a heartwarming comedy about the true definition of wealth. As the clock ticks down and the mystery of the deed’s location deepens, the siblings must decide if they value the prize more than each other. The climax brings a series of emotional revelations that shift their perspective on their mother’s legacy, leading to a conclusion that emphasizes forgiveness, faith, and the enduring bond of family over material gain.
