Synopsis

Weapons is a 2025 American supernatural horror epic from New Line Cinema (the studio behind IT and The Conjuring). Directed by Zach Cregger (the mind behind the 2022 hit Barbarian), the film is a multi-story mystery that connects several eerie events in a small community.

The story centers on a terrifying event in the quiet town of Maybrook, Pennsylvania: at exactly 2:17 a.m., seventeen children from the same third-grade classroom simultaneously walk out of their homes and vanish into the night. The only child left behind is Alex Lilly, who remains silent and traumatized. Suspicion immediately falls on their teacher, Justine Gandy, who is forced to navigate the community’s mounting fear and hostility while trying to figure out what happened to her students.

As the town searches for the missing children, the narrative follows several interconnected characters, including Archer Graff, a grieving father and contractor, and Paul, a local police officer with a secret. The mystery deepens when a homeless man accidentally discovers the children in a basement, leading to the revelation of a supernatural force at play. An elderly woman named Gladys, claiming to be a distant relative, has arrived in town and is using a dark “bewitchment” ritual to feed off the life force of the children.

The film explores themes of guilt, protection, and the hidden rot within a community. It eventually climaxes in a frantic battle between the townspeople and the ancient evil that has taken root in their neighborhood.
