Synopsis

Ciara and Oliver are two strangers who meet by chance in a Dublin supermarket just as the COVID-19 pandemic reaches Ireland. Their connection is instant and electric—a welcome distraction from the mounting global anxiety. For Ciara, a tech professional new to the city, Oliver represents a fresh start. For Oliver, an architect with a guarded demeanor, Ciara is someone who doesn’t know the secrets he’s desperate to leave behind.

When a strict national lockdown is suddenly announced, the new couple faces a choice: separate indefinitely or take a massive leap of faith. Choosing romance over isolation, Ciara agrees to move into Oliver’s apartment. In the quiet, deserted streets of Dublin, their relationship flourishes in total privacy, away from the prying eyes of friends, family, and past ghosts. It feels like the perfect escape—until the walls of the apartment begin to feel like a cage.

Exactly fifty-six days after their first meeting, the police are called to Oliver’s building following reports of a foul odor. Inside, detectives Karl Connolly and Lee Reardon discover a decomposing body that has been intentionally hidden. As the investigation begins, the police realize that because of the lockdown, no one even knew the couple was living together. This “perfect privacy” has inadvertently created the conditions for what could be the perfect murder.

The series unspools through three distinct lenses: the present-day forensic investigation, and the separate, often conflicting perspectives of Ciara and Oliver during their 56 days together. As the detectives peel back the layers of the couple’s whirlwind affair, they uncover a trail of burner phones, false identities, and a decades-old grudge. The central, chilling question remains: is the body in the apartment Ciara’s, or has the “victim” been the predator all along?
