Synopsis

In the quiet, coastal village of Devtali in Maharashtra’s Konkan region, a terrifying legend looms over the residents. The villagers believe that every year on the night of the Holi festival (Shimga), a mythical demon named Shankasur returns to claim a life as a form of “divine punishment.” For generations, these recurring deaths have been accepted as an act of supernatural justice rather than a series of crimes.

The atmosphere of the village is thick with superstition and fear, where ancient rituals and folklore dictate the laws of the land. When another mysterious death occurs during the Holi festivities, the locals are quick to attribute it to the demon. However, the arrival of a new, sharp-minded police inspector named Vishwas Saranjme threatens to disrupt this long-standing belief system.

Inspector Vishwas is a man of logic and refuses to accept “divine intervention” as an explanation for murder. As he begins his investigation, he finds himself pitted against a community that is fiercely protective of its traditions and terrified of the truth. He suspects that someone is using the guise of the Shankasur myth to carry out calculated killings with total impunity.

The series follows Vishwas as he peels back the layers of local folklore, uncovering a web of hidden agendas, old family feuds, and psychological trauma. As the line between myth and reality blurs, he must decide if he is chasing a human killer or a darkness that has truly taken root in the soul of the village. It is a haunting exploration of how fear can turn a simple belief into a deadly reality.
