Synopsis

The first season adapts Jo Nesbø’s fifth novel, The Devil’s Star. Set in the sweltering heat of an Oslo summer, the story follows the brilliant but self-destructive homicide detective Harry Hole (Tobias Santelmann) as he investigates a string of ritualistic murders. The killer leaves a specific signature behind: a five-pointed red diamond (the “Devil’s Star”) tucked under the eyelids of the victims.

Underneath the serial killer investigation lies a deep-seated corruption plot. Harry is forced to work alongside his long-time adversary, the charismatic and corrupt detective Tom Waaler (Joel Kinnaman). As Harry battles his own alcoholism and internal demons, he becomes convinced that Waaler is at the center of a criminal conspiracy within the police force. The season is a high-stakes “cat-and-mouse” game where Harry must catch a murderer and expose a dirty cop before he loses his own life-or his sanity.
