Synopsis

The Malayalam and Tamil bilingual original series Kaakee Circus (formerly titled Once Upon a Time in Kayamkulam) is scheduled to premiere on ZEE5.

Set in a quiet South Indian town, the series revolves around a bizarre and humiliating incident that turns a local sub-jail upside down. The chaos begins when a daring thief breaks into the prison not to help someone escape, but to steal a sacred temple donation box (hundial) kept inside the jail premises.

The investigation is led by an unlikely duo: a veteran jailer who believes in peaceful reformation and a cynical police officer who relies on brute force to extract the truth. As they hunt for the “Sillarai Thirudan” (Small-change Thief), they find themselves entangled in a web of town secrets and eccentric characters. What starts as a simple theft investigation quickly becomes a high-stakes “cop vs. thief” game where the reputation of the entire police force is on the line
