Synopsis

Maa Ka Sum continues Mona Singh’s incredible run in 2026, following her successful roles in Happy Patel and Kohrra Season 2. Director Nicholas Kharkongor has noted that the show intentionally avoids traditional “weepy” mother-son tropes, opting instead for a relationship built on friendship, mutual trust, and a shared sense of humor. The casting of celebrity chef Ranveer Brar in a pivotal acting role has also generated significant buzz ahead of the premiere.

The story follows Agastya (Mihir Ahuja), a 19-year-old mathematical prodigy who views the entire world—including human relationships as a series of equations to be solved. Growing up with his single mother, Vinita (Mona Singh), Agastya decides that her happiness is the next “variable” he needs to optimize.

He launches “Project MOM,” a mission to find the perfect romantic partner for his mother using strict data points, probability, and rational frameworks. To assist in his quest, he teams up with his enigmatic new math professor, Ira (Angira Dhar), to build a foolproof matchmaking algorithm. However, as the “Project” progresses, Agastya’s inflexible logic begins to clash with the messy, unpredictable nature of real human emotions. The series explores whether love can truly be calculated or if the best connections happen when the numbers don’t add up.
