Synopsis

Privileges is a tense, darkly seductive French psychological thriller set inside the gilded walls of one of the most prestigious luxury hotels in the world – where power, manipulation, and survival are the only currencies that matter.

Set within the opulent gold-leafed walls of The Citadel, one of Paris’s most prestigious luxury hotels, the series explores the stark contrast between the economic elite and the invisible workforce that serves them. The story follows Adèle Charki (Manon Bresch), a young woman serving a prison sentence who is granted a chance at redemption through a unique day-release program. She accepts a position as a baggage handler at the hotel, hoping to use the opportunity to rebuild her life and secure a future beyond the prison system.

However, Adèle quickly discovers that the Citadel is less of a hotel and more of a “microcosm of manipulation.” Beneath the surface of high-end hospitality lies a brutal power struggle involving ambitious staff, influential international guests, and shadowy external networks. Adèle’s survival depends on her ability to navigate these unwritten rules, where every favor granted by the hotel’s charismatic and all-powerful director, Édouard Galzain (Melvil Poupaud), comes with a hidden and often sinister cost.

As Adèle is drawn deeper into the hotel’s inner sanctum, her relationship with Édouard evolves into a complex game of psychological chess. She realizes that her grit and intelligence are her only weapons in a system designed to exploit vulnerability. The narrative tracks her strategic climb through the hotel’s hierarchy, transforming her from an outsider into a formidable player who learns to use the elite’s own “privileges” against them.
