Synopsis

The Hunt is a gripping French psychological thriller that explores how an ordinary weekend among friends spirals into a deadly fight for survival.

The story centers on Franck (Benoît Magimel), a seasoned hunter and quiet family man who joins a small group of longtime friends for an annual hunting trip deep in the rugged countryside. What begins as a familiar ritual quickly turns sinister when a tragic accident occurs — one of the group members fires a shot that kills a stranger from another hunting party.

Panicked and unsure of how to react, Franck and his friends decide to cover up the incident, burying the truth in the wilderness. But as they attempt to return to normal life, strange events begin to unfold. They hear noises in the woods, notice their cars being tampered with, and sense that someone — or something — is watching them.

Soon, the hunters become the hunted. Guilt transforms into paranoia, and the forest turns into a claustrophobic trap. Franck starts to question whether they are being stalked by the family of the dead man, or if their own fractured conscience is creating the terror. The line between predator and prey blurs completely, leading to a shocking finale that forces Franck to confront both the truth and his humanity.
