Synopsis
To Love, To Lose (also known by its Turkish title Ayrılık Da Sevdaya Dahil) is a compelling Turkish drama series set to premiere on Netflix on January 15, 2026. Created by the legendary Yavuz Turgul, the show blends elements of crime, romance, and moral philosophy.
The story centers on Kemal, a man who works as a debt collector for a powerful and dangerous loan shark family. Kemal is efficient and hardened by his profession, living a life defined by numbers and pressure until he is sent on a specific mission that changes his trajectory. He is tasked with collecting a significant debt from Afife, a talented screenwriter who has fallen on hard times and is currently forced to work in a restaurant to make ends meet.
As Kemal pursues Afife to settle her family’s debts, the two are forced into an unlikely journey together. Rather than a simple story of hunter and prey, their interaction becomes a deep exploration of human character. Kemal, who has long lived in a world of greed and violence, begins to see the world through Afife’s creative and principled eyes, while Afife discovers the hidden vulnerabilities behind Kemal’s tough exterior.
Their shared path leads them to question the very foundations of their lives. Kemal begins to realize that the “virtue” he once ignored is more valuable than the money he collects, and Afife finds a strange kind of protection in the man originally sent to ruin her. The series highlights how love can bloom in the most hostile environments and how two people from completely different social strata can find common ground when everything else is stripped away.
The backdrop of the series explores the tension between the “old world” of honor and the “new world” of relentless debt and crime. As the loan shark family grows impatient with Kemal’s changing priorities, the stakes rise from a financial dispute to a life-or-death struggle. It is a poetic and gritty look at whether it is possible to truly “love” without “losing” a part of the person you used to be.
