Synopsis

Marvel’s Wonder Man (2026) is a unique, “meta” addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe that feels more like a Hollywood satire than a typical superhero show.

The story follows Simon Williams, a struggling actor in Los Angeles who is desperate for his big break. His life is a cycle of failed auditions and small-time stunt work until he hears about a massive “Wonder Man” superhero movie being made by a legendary director. To get the part, Simon ends up involved in a secret experiment that grants him real superpowers, including superhuman strength and the ability to control “ionic energy.”

The twist is that Simon has to navigate his new life as a real superhero while trying to keep up the appearance of being just an actor playing one. The show explores the funny and sometimes dark side of the movie industry, showing how Simon balances his genuine powers with the fake world of green screens and Hollywood egos. He isn’t trying to save the world at first; he just wants to be a famous movie star.

Along the way, Simon forms an unlikely bond with Trevor Slattery (the “fake Mandarin” from previous Marvel films), who acts as a sort of eccentric mentor. Trevor helps Simon navigate the weirdness of fame, having experienced both the highs of acting and the lows of being a “supervillain” puppet himself. Their relationship is the heart of the show, blending comedy with a look at what it means to be “real” in a fake industry.

As the series progresses, Simon realizes that being a hero isn’t as easy as following a script. He faces pressure from shady industry figures and the mysterious “Grim Reaper,” while also dealing with the physical toll of his unstable ionic powers. It is ultimately a story about identity—choosing between the person the public wants you to be and the hero you actually are.
